If you’ve ever heard about Yoga or meditation, then the first thing that comes to your mind is “Peace” and it’s absolutely correct. Yoga is an art form that gives you peace and relaxes your nerves. That’s why it’s most preferred in a quiet place which is sound proof so that nothing can distract you from your thoughts. In fact, people travel thousands of miles in search of such places like Himalayas where they can find complete solace. However, it’s also true that music plays a big role in meditation. If you can find the right type of music, it will act as a catalyst and enhance your concentration. But as I said, it must be the “right type” of music. You don’t expect a rock song to help you in such cases but chirping of birds can certainly refresh your mind. We’ve got just that right thing for you.

Geosonic is the name of the latest iOS app that has been developed by mushDevStudio. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.1 or any later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

Geosonic is a music app that combines music and imagery in a very unique way. I’ve already told you the importance of music in meditation, but there are such images as well that help you to concentrate your mind at one place. When you’ll open this app, you’ll find some spirals rotating. These spirals are called Chakras and once you start staring them closely, you’ll soon be lost in them much like a Hypnotic process. Though you won’t go to bed early that night, but these spirals will make sure that you don’t look anywhere else. But if you feel that there are too many to distract you, you can remove some of them as well from the controls given on the top and left side of the screen.

Coming to the musical part, Solfeggio music will be played in the background which is some techno form of music. The music will certainly be a point of debate. If you think that it’ll be some sort of soft music, then you’ll be wrong. The techno beats are quite unique and something that at least I had never heard before. But they were not all pleasing. Yes, you can change the music as it suits you and then save them to your favourites, but you’d find that most of them are loud and somewhat irritating. I don’t know if it works better on a long run, but certainly were harsh for the first timers.

Overall, I think that Geosonic is a good platform to start your meditation but only if you could find the right piece of music. Once you’ve found it, then you’re ready to go deeper and deeper unless you find what you’re looking for!

By the way, this app is available for $0.99 in the App Store.

Pros: intuitive UI; customizable pictures that help you concentrate.

Cons: music won’t suit everyone.

I will give this app 4 out of 5 stars.
