Words are endless. The Oxford Dictionary might tell you the exact word count in the world but even that can’t tell you about the new words that will be added to it in the next edition. Some letters arrange themselves by each other randomly and here we have a new word. We don’t know if it will be the next tongue-twister or make it to the first page of Oxford Dictionary, but out of so many words spoken by a population of 6 billion on Earth and beyond, if there is any, there will certainly be a good and unique reason for its origin. We don’t know if it will last decades or fade amongst its superiors to just a synonym, but to a wordsmith, every word is gold. The same is true for a thief- word thief. Every word for him is a win that fetches him lots of points.

Didn’t understand what I’m talking about? Well, it’s the latest iOS app called WordHeist that has been developed by Kelvin Pan. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 6.0 or any later version of the OS. This app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

WordHeist is a hard hitting word puzzle that will drive you crazy several times during the game. You might have seen many word puzzles but this one combines the thrill of a Christopher Nolan movie with the brain of Einstein and out comes the product which is better than both of its ingredients. The game basically has three different modes: live, turn-based and practice. While the practice mode is obviously to sharpen your skills, live is the place where you actually test them in a real world against real competitors. So that’s how the game goes.

A tray of letters is given to you and you have to create as many words as you can with the available letters but only till that tray lasts. After a few seconds, time is up and you will be matched against your opponents and whoever scores the most, wins. You can invite up to three opponents for your match but the more opponents you have, the more is the threat to your collection of words. Yes, your opponents can steal words from your stock and you can steal theirs. So even if you’ve created put more power and created more words, it might be possible that your opponent takes the final edge. Turn-based mode is a more relaxed version of the live mode and here you can enjoy your share of time and put some thought into your creations.

WordHeist is a game that is aesthetically very appealing. It’s nothing like a boring word game that you might have a picture of in your mind. Just erase it right now and think of an art gallery that is flooded with admirers. There’s colour, excitement, delight and still, there’s a painting for everybody in here to find some solace. Isn’t that amazing!

So all I can say is that you should definitely go for this one. It’s available for free in the App Store. Go check out the art gallery before the exhibition gets paid!

Pros: exciting gameplay; appealing aesthetics; steal opponent’s words; multiplayer; free.

Cons: none.
