Beaver smash is different from any other apocalyptic game you would find on the App Store. Instead of pitting you against the cliché invading army of zombies or extra-terrestrials, Beaver Smash sends you on a noble quest to save nature from itself by stopping beavers who seem to have escalated their inherent hatred’ for trees. With such a simple plot, the developers over at Iron Ninja have managed to come up with an involving action game that is subtle enough for a 6 year-old kid yet good enough to capture the attention of the thoroughbred gamer.

Simple but effective controls

You don’t have to tilt your device into weird angles to get a mole. No. All you have to do is tap on the moles as they appear. Even though this might sound simple and boring for a start, the fact that you are dealing with many turbo charged moles makes it more interesting. Their random popup and the intriguing effects they create on popping will drive you into tapping on as many moles as you can to save the trees.

A timer and a tree counter

I personally get the adrenaline high when working under pressure. Beaver Smash has taken the definition of adrenaline rush to another level by putting a timer and the number of trees I have lost strategically. This acts as a constant reminder of my success or failure hence pushing me to the edge and forcing me to work smarter – or harder.
Game play modes

With over 100 levels of gameplay with randomly changing levels of hardness, Beaver Smash will keep you looking forward to the next level and anticipating what type of Beaver you will face next. To make the game more motive oriented, Iron Ninja has thrown in a couple of Power Up options to help you breeze through the most challenging levels and an hall of fame to remind you of your achievements over time.

Its social, just like all games should be
No one will complain of how antisocial Beaver Smash makes you – unless the accuser doesn’t believe in social media. An additional social media function lets you share your achievements with friends while a detailed statistics page shows your accurate taps per second, trees saved and so much more.

Gameplay performance

The app loads pretty fast on the iPhone 5 and would even do better on the more powerful iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. Couple this with the rather impressive graphics and you have on your hands a formidable and undeniably addictive game that will keep you glued to your device for hours. Even though you will enjoy it better on the latest iPhones as it is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6, it is compatible any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS6.0 and above.
Verdict

It’s one thing to tap on regular beavers. It’s another to go crazy and frantically try to tap on enthusiastic beavers that seem to pop out of nowhere. I personally found the game more interesting on an iPad since to play well you have to place your device on a surface and use both hands (you won’t survive the intensity of the beaver attacks by using your thumbs.) Beaver Smash is a simple and involving game that will keep anyone, be it a beginner or a pro, entertained with its seemingly endless levels and a rather challenging Impossible Mode.
