Imagine a planet that is rich in minerals such as diamond mines, gold, platinum, petroleum fields, etc. Now, you pad up yourself and drive to that planet. But as you reach there, you find that there are so many other alien ships already there in search of the treasure. Then you have two options on your side: either you can go back home peacefully without any single piece of precious item or you can fight your way through them alien ships and conquer the planet. If you go with the first choice, you are requested to leave now. But if you’re brave enough for the second option, please continue reading as you may find some good tips that might be deciding for your journey.
We are here talking about the new iOS app, Ktalu: Planet of Terror that has been developed by West of Pluto Software. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5. So, you are on a mission to a planet and you have to manage your resources to the best to achieve success. And believe me; it is as difficult as it sounds.
You have to fly your space ship from the corridors of the planet. On your way, you will encounter many alien ships that will be desperate to blow your head off. So, you can either neglect them by just defending yourself or you can go for the kill. But that requires some special weapons loaded on your ship. You can upgrade your ship with as well as buy new weapons but only if you have scored enough points. You can collect points while on your journey and use them to upgrade your ships which are many including Rambler, Valkyrie, Overlord, etc.
We would say that the one department where the app disappointed us was the graphics. We don’t think that the app boasts such detailed and sharp graphics that we normally find in such apps. It’s a bit of arcade gaming look that takes us to the old days of shooting games. But still the gameplay is very good and we won’t say it to be unique but still it gives you a different taste altogether.
The app is available for free in the App Store. However, there are some in-app purchases available such as Mini Pack for $0.99, Standard Pack for $1.99 and Large Pack for $4.99. These packs are nothing but your bankroll credits. If you can’t manage fighting your enemies and taking points at the same time, then these in-app purchases aren’t a bad deal to consider.
Overall, the app is worth a download and you must check it out for an indifferent blend of gameplay and graphics.
Pros: addictive gameplay; weapon and ship upgrade; free.
Cons: average graphics.
