Tap and Smash is a unique and simple game to play. It is most suitable for light gamers of all ages. Simply tapping the screen and avoiding the solid balls that fly haphazardly in your direction may seem simple enough, and I found the game a bit reminiscent of Flappy Bird when it came to the frustration that I felt from failing to do well at such an elementary game-concept. Tap and Smash is a good app to play when you have a few minutes to kill. You’ll become so focused on the gameplay that time seems to melt away! The arrow doesn’t stop moving immediately after you lift your fingertip off of the screen– it keeps moving, requiring you to manage your time quickly and more efficiently that you would have otherwise. This app is just the right amount of challenging, without being so difficult that you get annoyed and delete the app right away. This game keeps you coming back for more.
The pros definitely outweigh the cons. The gameplay is easy to grasp and is immersive as well. Opportunities to earn coins are fair and plentiful. Additionally, I enjoyed how the rankings were represented by colored margins so that I knew when I beat my high score without having to memorize the specific number. That’s something that I can’t remember any other games having, and worth mentioning. The option to post your score on social media such as Facebook and Twitter in return for coins is always nice! Another feature that I really liked was the wheel. Spinning in exchange for random prizes was fun, and I won fifteen coins on my first spin. As for the audio, it is extremely catchy and not obnoxious like some background music is. The sound effects are interesting and appropriate as well. I think they really add substance to the game.
As for cons, I would have to say that the artwork could use a bit of an overhaul. It isn’t bad by any means, but it is a bit dull and boring to look at. Brighter colors and flashier animations could do a world of wonder for this app, in my opinion. In any case, it is an easy thing to overlook. I do like how the background changes colors, though, and would prefer to see that aspect of the graphics stay the same. It gives the game a bit more life and doesn’t make it seem so repetitive.
All in all, I enjoyed my experience with this app. I can see myself playing it again in the future when I need a few minutes to pass by a bit faster. It has the potential to become a lot more popular with just a bit more tweaking. I’m positive that many more people could also have fun with this app, if perhaps the artwork was a bit smoother and more vibrant. Another gameplay method would be interesting to test out as well, such as a sped up mode that requires you to be exceptionally quicker.
