Making your online sales life hectic is always easy in one of these articles. There are always tips to do this and rules to do that. I’m here to tell you to forget every single rule of business you have ever learned. Take them all and throw them in the trash. You don’t really need them. The reason is that the only thing you ever need to focus on in business is the presentation; everything else is just a side point.
If everything you do doesn’t focus on making your product better, getting your product out to more people, getting more eyes on your product, you are doing something wrong. All of these things can be done through presentation. A good salesperson will be able to sell you anything if they present the product in the right light.
Focus Your Energy
The silliest things, like price, tend to distract consumers. Price doesn’t really matter. Just ask a company like Apple. They charge a lot for their products and people still buy them. Why? It’s not because they are necessarily better than the competition, but because Apple has been able to present their products in a way that engages the customers.
The Presentation is the Magic
To present your product in the right way you need to do three things.
First, you need to make sure you know what the right presentation is. You can’t present your product in the right light if you don’t know what you want and how to do it.
Second, you need to focus on the details. Whether it is the color of the “buy now” button, or choosing the best shopping cart software , the devil, as they say, is in the details. If you are fastidious about your design and presentation, the customers will realize that you’ve put such a grand effort into your presentation that your product must be good. People don’t usually do great presentations for crappy products.
Finally, know your audience. As with most things in life, a presentation could be seen as fantastic by one client and horrendous by another. Know that you’ll never please everyone, then go forth and try to please the bulk of your market.
Offer the best experience
Always remember that the most important thing you can do to gain a customer is to provide the best experience necessary. The best experience will come from the best presentation. Customers will react to a great presentation of the product. Think of a jeweler. You would never buy a diamond from a jeweler who displays their products on plain cardboard planks. Instead jewelers have learned that to sell shiny things the best way, is to set them on a black background of felt. It makes the product seem much more elegant, and draws the eye to the product instead of the background. Your presentation should be the same, draw the eye to your product. Remember, it’s the presentation, silly.
